What our Head Start Program offers
Through our Head Start/Early Head Start program, we serve income eligible three- and four-year-old children in 20 NDO counties and children 6 weeks – 3 years at select sites. Nineteen of our Head Start centers are Quality Rated, signifying that they have been assessed by qualified early childhood professionals and identified as quality educational facilities. The state of Georgia does not mandate licenses for Head Start centers; however, NDO has proactively obtained licenses for twenty-six centers.
The mission of Head Start is to promote the school readiness of young children from low-income families by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development. Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as key to strong child outcomes.
