Ninth District Opportunity's Head Start program
has been recognized by the National Head Start
Association as a "Program of Excellence", the
highest award for quality with only 21 of the
nation's 2,600 programs earning this
distinction. In addition, 19 centers are
accredited by the National Association for the
Education of Young Children as a high quality
program. Although Georgia does not require
Head Start centers to be licensed, the program
has voluntarily licensed 26 centers.
